What is there to do in Dunbar?

Dunbar is a thriving town with a historic town centre and harbours all within a short walk of the hostel. East Beach is a minute’s walk from the front door and the large expansive Belhaven Bay is a half hour walk round the cliffs or a short cycle away.

For a small town, Dunbar has an enormous amount of things to do in the town centre and in the immediate area. The website www.60thingsdunbar.com details all the activities. There are a large number of adventure activities on offer here alongside attractions including golf courses, a large indoor pool, tennis courts, pétanque, play parks and sports centres. Dunbar definitely punches above its weight for attractions.

Edinburgh is a quick 25 minute train trip from the town centre railway station making Dunbar a great base for your visit to the beautiful capital city. From Edinburgh Waverley Station you can connect with services all around Scotland and to Edinburgh Airport by bus or tram.

Dunbar was also the birthplace of John Muir, the famous American naturalist and there is an interesting museum on the High Street which is well worth a visit.
