The Dolphin Inn has witnessed almost 250 years of Dunbar history, providing accommodation to travellers and then holiday makers.

Sadly it fell into disrepair but is now being lovingly restored and will reopen in June 2021 as a characterful hostel once again welcoming visitors to its rooms.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to stay with us at the Dolphin Inn, an independent hostel situated in Dunbar’s historic town centre, minutes from the beach and harbour. Hostelling has come a long way from the days when shared dorm beds were the norm and the Dolphin, like many hostels, now offers smaller private rooms - some with ensuite facilities. Although we do have one shared dorm room for those in bigger groups or a tight budget.

When we have travelled, some of our best memories are from hostel stays where rooms are good value and days are spent outdoors discovering the local area. Residents share tips and experiences, chat over meals, meet new people and form new connections. It is a unique experience.

We have designed this hostel with a retro vintage flair, reflecting characterful hostels that have opened up around the world creating memorable travel experiences for budget travellers. We have been inspired by the activities and sights around Dunbar, our own travels and sometimes just something that caught our eye in a vintage store.

This is a new venture for us and one that we hope you will enjoy. See you soon!
